fundraising

We estimate our annual running costs are £5,000.These costs inlcude hiring the facilities at Faircote Stud, keeping 3/4 ponies, insurance, training and equipment.

Whenpreviously based at Paddock Farm, Fairwarp we were required to pay Mr and Mrs Basham for use of  the premises irrespecitve of whether we were able to use them .Our previous Instructor Ali Rremmen  required weekly payment.Until October 2008 these represented our major items of expenditure. When we had to leave Paddock Farm we were not able to move our hut and had to incur capital exepnditure replacing equipment, including the hut .

We have replcaed the hut and lost equipment .Now we only pay for the premises at Faircote Stud  when we use them, our instructors are all volunteers trained using the Lottery Award we received and all of our equipment is mobile . The only instruction costs we incur are regularly training sessions from an RDA County Instructor. We are a charity that is concerned that all of our funds should be used for our charitable purposes. We also wish to be absolutely transparent as to how we use funds so generously given to us.

We keep reserves to cover 3 years running costs to ensure continuity. We present annual accounts at the AGM and our books are always open for inspection. None of the Trustees receive payment from the charity.

We fundraise for one off purchases such as ponies, tack, horsetrailers, and equipment for lessons. We hold a Christmas lunch on the first Tuesday of December every year which is attended by local supporters and also provides an opportunity to thank our loyal band of volunteers. We have a quiz night alternative year (usually in February) and organise other fundraising events. We encourage our teenage members to raise funds for us as part of their Duke Of Edinburgh Award activities.

We have established a fundraising group of supporters unable to attend our weekly sessions. We hope the group will meet 4  times a year.

We are also very grateful to the support we receive from a number of local groups and individuals. In the last year we have received Donations from:

- Holmewood House Parents Association.
- The Ashdown Forest Morris Men
- Janet Hardy Smith Estate
- Rosemary Brown Estate
- Ashdown Mummers
- Eridge Horse Trials
